Cine El Rey Theatre and Pharr United
Methodist Church are excited to announce a Christian comedy
night that will be fun for the entire family. Just in time for
the holidays, when family is visiting from out of town,
Valleyites will have a fun family event that will leave them
rolling in the aisles. Audiences can expect an all-star line up
featuring some of the country’s hottest new stand up comedians.
Headlining the show is Dennis Gaxiola,
one of the hottest
urban comics in America. Dennis’ impressive resume
includes performances at Jamie Foxx’s Laffapalooza, Paul
Rodriguez’s Latin All-Stars of Comedy, and Que Locos. He is well
known at numerous comedy clubs in California and has performed
at improv clubs across the nation.
A native of Berkeley, California and
the son of a preacher, Dennis' comedy is as
diverse as any you will ever hear. With a melting pot of a
family, that includes his Mexican heritage, an African American
brother in-law, a Jewish Brother in-law, a Puerto Rican sister
in-law and a Filipino wife, Dennis' quick wit is loaded for any
audience. His smooth relaxed delivery is spiced up with edgy,
thought provoking material that has lead to numerous television
appearances and DVD projects.
Family Comedy Night will also feature a
Texas favorite, Cleto Rodriguez. Cleto has been called “the
funniest man on Earth” by the New York Times and has been
critically acclaimed throughout the nation. He recently won the
title of “Funniest Comic in the Southwest.” He has worked with
George Lopez and Wayne Brady and has been featured on BET, MTV
and Comedy Central. Originally from San Antonio, Cleto has made
a name for himself by performing at colleges, clubs and churches
across the nation. Cleto’s performance includes hilarious
stories of fatherhood, working out in the gym and “meeting God
for the first time…again.”
Audiences will also be treated to the
hilarious Richard Trevino. Richard has been wowing audiences
throughout Texas with his blend of Latino and Christian comedy.
